The Parent Trap: Why Your Help Might Be Hurting

As parents, our instinct is to step in and solve problems. We remind them about assignments, check their work, and create systems for them. While well-intentioned, this approach can actually prevent teens from developing the very skills they need.

When we take ownership of our teen’s learning process, we’re teaching them an unintended lesson: that they’re not capable of managing it themselves. The more we step in, the less they step up.
